Aviva Buildings Insurance

If you only require coverage for your home structure (under the course of construction), buildings insurance may be the perfect policy.

What’s included in buildings insurance?

If you have employed a contractor to build your home (not a self-build), buildings insurance can offer peace of mind until the build is complete. Buildings only insurance can provide cover for fire, explosion, lightning, earthquakes, and smoke damage along with architects', surveyors', legal and other fees and associated costs until your home is fully built.

Once built, you can add contents cover to this insurance. You will then have buildings and contents insurance.

How much buildings cover do I need?

You should base your cover on the cost of rebuilding your home and not on its current market value.

A great resource is the House Rebuilding Guide for Home Insurance from the Society of Chartered Surveyors.
