Aviva, in collaboration with Citroën, have given Michelle and Steve Riddett, along with their two children, Emma and Alex the adventure of a lifetime: a 10-day road trip around the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland in a Citroën C5 Aircross ë-Series Plug-In Hybrid with car insurance provided by Aviva.
Day nine of the Riddett family’s Great Aviva Road Trip was action-packed, with high-speed thrills and fascinating underwater discoveries. From zooming around a go-kart track to getting up close with marine life, it was another unforgettable day on the road in their trusty Citroën.
Racing Fun at Galway City Karting
The day kicked off with an adrenaline rush as the Riddett family arrived at Galway City Karting, where they were greeted by Jessica and the friendly team. The excitement was electric as the family got suited up and ready to hit the track.
With the track all to themselves, the Riddetts turned into speed chasers, racing around at full throttle. Steve was the clear winner on the day, lapping the rest of the family several times and clocking the fastest lap time of the morning. "I’ll take the win, but let’s see how long that record lasts!" Steve joked, though it was clear everyone had a blast.
After karting, the fun continued next door at VR World, where Emma and Alex got to play all sorts of virtual reality games. Their favourite was Job Simulator, where they pretended to be chefs and mechanics. Meanwhile, Steve relived his youth playing Operation Wolf, while Michelle bravely walked the plank high above a virtual city, only to be startled by a giant spider! The entire family laughed and agreed that this was an experience they’d be coming back for.
Exploring the Depths at Galway Atlantaquaria
After their morning of speed and virtual fun, the family made their way to the Salthill promenade for a relaxing walk before heading to the Galway Atlantaquaria. Known as the National Aquarium of Ireland, the aquarium proved to be a fantastic learning experience for the whole family.
The Riddetts were amazed at the variety of marine life on display, from sharks and rays to massive eels. The highlight for Emma and Alex was seeing the animals being fed and getting to ask questions to the helpful and knowledgeable staff. The whole family learned about the incredible depths of the Atlantic Ocean and were particularly fascinated by the diatoms, tiny organisms that have existed since the time of the dinosaurs.
“Seeing them under the microscope was incredible! It’s amazing to think they’ve been around for so long,” Michelle remarked, as the family marvelled at the hidden wonders of the sea.
A Day to Remember
After a day filled with excitement and discovery, the Riddett family reflected on how much fun they had. From the fast-paced fun at Galway City Karting and VR World to the fascinating world of marine life at the Galway Atlantaquaria, day nine had been a perfect blend of adventure and learning.
