Aviva, in collaboration with Citroën, have given Michelle and Steve Riddett, along with their two children, Emma and Alex the adventure of a lifetime: a 10-day road trip around the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland in a Citroën C5 Aircross ë-Series Plug-In Hybrid with car insurance provided by Aviva.
Day eight of the Riddett family’s Great Aviva Road Trip brought a mix of thrilling physical challenges and an immersive sports experience. From scaling climbing walls to exploring the heart of rugby, the day was packed with action and excitement.
Reaching New Heights at Suas Climbing Centre
The morning kicked off with a visit to Suas Climbing Centre, where the Riddetts were greeted by John, their enthusiastic guide for the day.
John started them out with a "basic" 10-meter climb, and while that might have seemed daunting at first, the Riddetts embraced the challenge with open arms (and strong grips!). Everyone had a go at the initial climb, but it wasn’t long before Emma and Alex left Steve and Michelle far behind, racing up the walls with ease.
The kids quickly advanced to more challenging overhanging walls, showing off their newfound climbing skills. Steve and Michelle couldn’t have been prouder, even if they did find themselves watching from below a little more often than they expected! The experience was full of laughter, excitement, and a bit of healthy competition. As they wrapped up their climbing adventure, the family agreed that this was something they would definitely be doing again in the future.
The International Rugby Experience: A Journey Through the Sport's Values
After all the climbing fun, the Riddetts hopped back into their Citroën Plug-In Hybrid and made their way to the International Rugby Experience. Here, they were met by Emma, who gave them a warm welcome and set the stage for their journey through the world of rugby.
The experience began in ‘the tunnel,’ where the family got their first taste of the interactive exhibits. From practicing different types of throws and jumps to perfecting their kicks, the Riddetts were fully engaged. The highlight for the kids was trying their hand at being referees, though they quickly learned that making the calls wasn’t as easy as it looked!
One of the most exciting parts of the experience was being scored on their rugby skills and finding out which position each of them would be best suited for. Emma and Alex were thrilled to discover their roles.
As they continued through the experience, each floor focused on one of rugby’s core values: Passion, Discipline, Integrity, Solidarity, and Respect. The family was deeply impressed by how these values were brought to life through engaging displays and activities. The experience was not only fun but also a meaningful exploration of what makes rugby such a special sport.
The day concluded with a visit to the top level, where they were treated to spectacular views of the city. The family even got to build their own legendary rugby team, capping off an unforgettable visit.
