Aviva, in collaboration with Citroën, have given Michelle and Steve Riddett, along with their two children, Emma and Alex the adventure of a lifetime: a 10-day road trip around the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland in a Citroën C5 Aircross ë-Series Plug-In Hybrid and with car insurance provided by Aviva.
Day five of the Riddett family’s Great Aviva Road Trip was filled with excitement, exploration, and a touch of history as they journeyed from the charming town of Cobh to the impressive Blackrock Castle Observatory. With the sun shining and their spirits high, the family enjoyed a perfect mix of adventure on the water and learning about the wonders of the universe.
Exploring Cork Harbour by Boat
The day began with a lovely breakfast that fuelled the family for a day of exploration. Their first stop was the bustling seaside town of Cobh, a place that quickly captivated the Redditt’s with its vibrant atmosphere and stunning coastal views. But the real adventure began when they hopped aboard a boat with Cork Harbour Boat Hire for a self-drive tour of Cork Harbour.
The sun sparkled on the water as the Redditt’s set out to explore one of the world’s largest natural harbours. The best part? Both Emma and Alex had the chance to take the wheel! The kids were thrilled to drive the boat, beaming with pride as they steered through the harbour, an experience they won’t soon forget.
The whole family agreed it was the perfect way to experience the beauty of Cork’s coastline, with plenty of photo opportunities and unforgettable memories made along the way.
A Journey Through Space at Blackrock Castle Observatory
After their nautical adventure, the Redditt’s continued their day of discovery at Blackrock Castle Observatory. The castle, with its striking architecture and fascinating history, offered a completely different kind of adventure—one that took them from the sea to the stars.
The family was eager to learn about the castle’s storied past, and they weren’t disappointed. From the incredible views at the top of the castle to the interactive exhibits inside, Blackrock Castle had something to capture everyone’s imagination. Emma and Alex were particularly intrigued by the evolution of the Earth and other planets, while Steve and Michelle were fascinated by the work being done at the observatory.
One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the impressive Big Bertha telescope up close. The kids were in awe of its size and power, and the family enjoyed learning about how it’s used to explore the farthest reaches of our galaxy. The combination of history, science, and breathtaking views made the visit to Blackrock Castle an absolute must-do on their trip.
