Aviva, in partnership with Citroën, has given the Riddett family the trip of a lifetime: a 10-day trip around Ireland.
After an unforgettable first day at Kia Ora Farm, the Riddett family kicked off day two of their Great Aviva Road Trip with even more excitement and adventure! With their Citroën C5 Aircross ë-Series Plug-In Hybrid and their car insurance provided by Aviva, the family set out to catch some waves at Tramore Surf School before winding down with a picturesque train journey through the stunning Waterford countryside.
Surf's Up at Tramore Surf School
The Ridditt’s began their day with a scenic drive to Tramore Beach, the Citroën C5 Aircross cruising smoothly along the winding coastal roads. The family couldn’t help but appreciate the car’s spaciousness and comfort, making the journey as enjoyable as the destinations themselves. Plus, with its hybrid technology, they were glad to know they were exploring Ireland in an eco-friendly way.
For a family that had never tried surfing before, the Riddett’s weren’t quite sure what to expect when they pulled up to Tramore Surf School. But with the sun shining down on Tramore beach and the gentle waves inviting them in, any nerves quickly turned into eager anticipation.
Instructor Darragh, with his easy-going attitude and endless patience, was a hit with the kids right from the start. Both Emma and Alex were wobbly on their boards at first, but with Darragh’s guidance and a few practice attempts, they soon found their balance. By the end of the surfing lesson, they were both riding the waves like pros—well, almost!
Michelle and Steve cheered them on from the sand, snapping photos and soaking in the joyous moment. Emma declared it the “best thing ever!” while Alex was already asking when they could come back for more. The idea of a surf camp next year was tossed around, and by the looks on their faces, it’s safe to say that surfing might just become the family’s new favourite hobby.
A Scenic Ride on the Waterford Suir Valley Railway
After all the adrenaline at the beach, the Riddett’s hopped back into their trusty Citroën for a leisurely drive inland to the Waterford Suir Valley Railway. The hybrid’s smooth handling and advanced navigation made the trip a breeze, allowing the family to sit back and enjoy the beautiful Irish countryside.
This narrow-gauge railway offers a nostalgic journey through the heart of Waterford’s countryside, and it couldn’t have been more different from their morning on the waves. The whole family relaxed as they chugged along the 10-kilometer stretch of track, taking in the lush scenery, rolling hills, and tranquil views over the River Suir.
The staff at the railway were as lovely as the landscapes, sharing stories about the area’s rich history and making sure everyone felt right at home. Steve and Michelle enjoyed the leisurely pace, while Emma and Alex were thrilled to be riding on such a unique train. It was a charming and peaceful way to wind down after an action-packed day.
More Adventures on the Horizon
As day two drew to a close, the Riddett family was already looking forward to their next stops. With their Citroën C5 Aircross ë-Series Plug-In Hybrid ready for the road, they’re set to explore the Discovery Park and Leahy’s Open Farm next.
