Manage your car insurance policy online

You can manage your policy online with our newly upgraded MyAviva portaI if your an Aviva Direct car insurance customer.

MyAviva now allows you to do the following tasks online:

  • Update your contact number and email address
  • Transfer your insurance to another car
  • Add or remove drivers 
  • Upload your documents like car tax disc, driver licence and NCT certificate
  • Request documents like named driver experience letters, accompanied driver cover letters and no claims bonus

You can still access your historic policy documents on your old MyAviva portal, which you can access through the website. You will need to login using your previous MyAviva credentials. Any new documents generated will be available through the new portal.

Manage your home insurance policy online

You can manage your home policy online with our newly upgraded MyAviva portaI if your Aviva Direct home insurance policy number begins with 94 or you have received an email from us to access the new portal.

MyAviva now allows you to do the following tasks online:

  • Uploading documents
  • Requesting documents
  • Renew your existing home policy

If you have not yet received an email from Aviva to access the new portal, you can still log in to the old portal. 

Administration fee

Please note certain requests will incur a €25 administration fee if you contact us via the Customer Service Team to make changes to your car insurance policy that can be amended through MyAviva. See our Terms of Business for details.

Registering for MyAviva

Step 1: Select Register for MyAviva

Step 2: Enter in your policy number and date of birth

Step 3: If the account is with us, registrations instructions will be sent via email

Step 4: On the email select “Create your account”

Step 5: You will need to follow the instructions on screen to create a secure password

Step 6: A confirmation message will appear on screen confirming your password has been setup successfully. Click on the ‘Continue to Login’

Step 7: You will now be able to login with your email address and secure password.

Step 7A and 7B: If at any stage you forget your email or password, you can reset these by choosing the options displayed on screen

Step 8: If you need to change your email address that have set up to log in with, you will need to contact us.

Uploading documents on MyAviva

Step 1: Log in to MyAviva.

Step 2: Select “Check your policy status”

Step 3: Select “Upload”

Step 4: Select “Select a file”. Browse for your document.

Step 5: The file name will show in green if the correct format, then select “Agree and Upload”

Step 6: You should now see confirmation that the upload was successful.

Step 7: Message reads: After you have uploaded your document it will be reviewed by Aviva within 3-5 working days, no need to upload again. On the policy status screen once reviewed by us a green tick will appear under “Received”

Printing your cert & disc on MyAviva

Step 1: Log in to MyAviva.

Step 2: Select “Manage policy”

Step 3: Select “Policy documents”

Step 4: To access your cert & disc, select “Agree and access” and you’re good to go

Step 5: Your cert will be unlocked, and you can select it from your documents list

Step 6: Print or download your certificate from the browser and don’t forget to print on a colour printer.

How to change your car details via MyAviva

Title: How to make a permanent change to your car details through MyAviva

Step 1: Firstly, you’ll need to log in to MyAviva.

Step 2: Select “Manage policy”

Step 3: Select “Make a change”

Step 4: From the dropdown select “Car details”

Step 5: Then select “Change car details”

Step 6: Enter in the new car registration and click on “Find car”

Step 7: If the new car registration matches, select “Yes” then “Continue”

Step 8: Select the date you wish to make the change from and agree to the T&Cs

Step 9: Depending on the type of car there may be an additional payment required or you may be due a refund

Step 10: Answer a few additional questions

Step  11: Confirm that the information provided is correct

Step 12: If payment is required enter in your card details

Step 13: You should now see confirmation that the payment has been made

Step 14: You will also receive an email confirming the change.

Step 15: Your documents will be available in MyAviva (including your new certificate and disc if applicable)

Step 1: Firstly, you’ll need to log in to MyAviva.

Step 2: Select “Manage policy”

Step 3: Select “Make a change”

Step 4: From the dropdown select “Additional drivers”

Step 5: Select “Yes” to add the driver details

Step 6: Enter in the driver details on screen and click on “Add driver”

Step 7: If you wish to add more select “Yes” or select “No” and continue

Step 8: You will be asked if the additional drivers have had any claims, please select “Yes” or “No”

Step 9: You will then be asked if the additional drivers have any penalty points, please select “Yes” or “No”

Step 10: Select the date you wish to make the change from and agree to the T&Cs

Step 11: Depending on the driver there may be an additional payment required or you may be due a refund

Step 12: Answer a few additional questions

Step 13: Confirm that the information provided is correct

Step 14: If payment is required enter in your card details

Step 15: You should now see confirmation that the payment has been made

Step 16: You will also receive an email confirming the change

Step 17: All policy documents will be available in MyAviva

Enabling Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on MyAviva

Step 1: Log in or register to MyAviva

Step 2: You will see your MyAviva dashboard

Step 3: Select Your Account then select your Account Settings

Step 4: Scroll down to the bottom of the screen

Step 4: Enable the option for two-step verification

Step 4: Select configure two-step verification

Step 5: Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and select Generate QR Code after you have installed the app

Step 6: You will be presented with a QR code to scan

Step 6: If you cannot scan select Configure Manually

Step 7: If you have used the app, add your account on the app

Step 8: Select other from the options in the app

Step 9: Scan the QR code on your MyAviva account using the app

Step 10: If you are chosen Configure Manually, input the code from your MyAviva account

Step 11: Give your account a name you will recognise

Step 12: You will be presented with a pin for your MyAviva account

Step 13: Enter the pin from the app and select continue

Step 14: Enter pin from app if you have chosen manually

Step 15: You have now paired your MyAviva account to Microsoft Authenticator app

Step 16: You will receive an email confirmation when pairing is successful

Step 17: The next time you log into your MyAviva account

Step 18: You will be presented to enter in the code from the Microsoft Authenticator app

How to make a renewal payment on your car insurance policy

Step 1: You can renew your car insurance using the following mehtods: Your renewal email,  through MyAviva or else Aviva.ie

Step 2: When you retrieve your renewal, you must ensure you have read the renewal documentation before proceeding.

Step 3: You can make changes to your renewal like adding a driver or changing your car details.

Step 4: Select "renew now" or "pay monthly" if you are happy to proceed.

Step 5: Enter in your drive licence number.

Step 5: Your driver number is the nine-digit number found on your driving licence and it's used to track your driving history, you cannot proceed with your renewal without providing this information.

Step 5: If you have a plastic driving licence, this number is found in field 4d on the front of your licence. If you still have a paper driving licence, this can be found in field 5.

Step 6: Confirm that the information provided is correct.

Step 7: You can pay by credir or debit card.

Step 8: You should now see confirmation that the renewal is complete.

Step 9: Any changes you've made to your policy, will come into effect when your policy has renewed. Your documenation will be available on your MyAviva portal.

Step 9: If you're opted in online, your car insurance certificate and disc will be made available viaMyAviva within 5 days or after the start date of your policy whichever is later. 

Step 9: If you're opted to have your cert and disc issues via post, documenation for your car insurance certificate and disc will be issues to you by post within 5 days or after the start date of your policy whichever is later.
